Great shots, all.
I've noticed that not all players wear dental protection. Is that maybe related to the position they play at, where they run less risk of getting hurt? Although looking at the pics it seems all players are equally at risk.

Well you are free to choose to wear it, but in general everybody wears a mouth guard unrelated to the position they play. I know of one former teammate who did wear one, because the thing made him gag.
In some cases it may just not be obvious in the photos and in rare cases someone might have chosen to play without one.
The mouth guards are for the upper teeth only and are more about protection for a 'biting' reflex then preventing the teeth to be knocked out, as far as I understood back in the days when I was playing. The biting reflex not being an act of aggression, but a reflex close the jaws when one makes or gets hit with a tackle.
Might be mandatory since a few year as safety is an important point of attention within the sport. I do not know of other people than the one exception in the past that do not play with a mouth guard.
Some ladies rugby from last week. Was photographing for the team in green which suffered a big loss, so less clear runs with a ball, but fierce defending ;-)
