The Story of Focus on Photography

This forum was born out of another forum: Photography on the Net, POTN for short.
POTN was started in 2001 by Pekka Saarinen, a brilliant and stubborn Fin. It ran for 22 years, until he pulled the plug on 1-1-2024.
POTN was followed up by a new forum (on my initiative - you can look it up!),
so the remaining POTN community would have a new home to move to.

Unfortunately disagreements about commitment and an unqualified moderator split the staff apart and it turned ugly.
I also learned that the co-ownership I thought existed, didn't when they had me removed without a word;
I was not informed, nor asked if this is what I wanted, not notified after the fact, nothing.
I found out one day when I logged into the site and found my administrator toolbar gone.

So I decided to start a new forum, one that I could call my own: Focus on Photography.

The domain focus-on-photography.net was available and I decided to purchase it.
It is a good name for a photography forum. I think I will call my forum FoP for short as it really is that.


Maybe this forum won't go anywhere as I don't have the benefit of an existing community waiting in the wings.
I'm still trying though.
