This is probably not what you guys were thinking of but it sort of fits. This was her first bike - age 7 in 1968

I was a kid in the 60's, the first shot brings back memories of my dad teaching how to ride a bike when I was 5 yrs. I still remember him taking off the training wheels and the nervous feeling of riding without them. Also, the memory of a big German shepherd barking, chasing and snapping at me. I did a back kick to its nose with my trusty Chuck Taylor Converses, and it backed off. Thank God their noses are sensitive, I believe it would've bit me had I not done that.
 
For the ladies this course is quite new and they start in Bastogne, but do finish in Liege. It must be noted that the return from Bastogne to Liege is the most difficult part of the race with most of the climbs.

Some photos from one of the 'monuments' in cycling: Liege Bastogne Liege. Unfortunately it was a dense crowd, so not much photo opportunity but here are some photos of the men finishing:
