Post Your Best Flower Photos

ID came from a lady on the Oklahoma Wildflower Society Facebook page. BTW, do you Facebook?
Well, yes. That is to say, I did open a Facebook account and created a group called Focus on Photography. But it's hard as I have no experience with it, so I'm not sure how to work it, how to find people and get them here. I started a group before and made the mistake of putting a link to our forum in a post. That got me banned. So if that is not allowed then how do I get people interested in our forum? I have no idea.

We're here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2228080750923291

See, I don't even get that link. It leads to a page where I have to login before I can access it. But the group is set to public and anyone can view it. So why can't I (without logging in)?

That's strange. Do you have to log into your personal FB account every time as well? My FB account logs me in automatically (I think this is the default) and your link worked fine for me.

Yeah? This is what I see:

But, I log out always and have my browser set to delete all my cookies, except for certain trusted sites like our forum. I don't like Facebook tracking me.

However, I thought that since the group is public and anyone can see it, one didn't need to be logged in to access it.

With a public Facebook group you don't need to be a group member to read the group, but you do need to be logged in to Facebook. I'm pretty certain that public profiles and groups on Facebook are not visible to the internet at large, but only to logged-in FB members. You log out after every session; that's why you keep being asked to log back in.

Ah okay. Clear.

I see the old Facebook group is also still up, except I don't have access to it any longer because I was banned. I have no idea if that group will eventually vanish. Probably. Too funny that my account is gone but the group in it is still there. :lolz:

It will probably stay there for ever.

It's a sad thing. When I joined Facebook, some time before Zuckerberk sold it, it was a very pleasant environment run for the benefit of its users, rather like Bluesky currently is. Now it's run only for the benefit of its advertisers. They don't care about the users and treat them as low-intelligence advertising fodder. The posts you see are never the complete set of new posts, but only a selection. FB wants to show you something new each time you log on, so you keep coming back again and again - which also means that you see different adverts each time. It grinds my gears, really it does. Fortunately I use a desktop, so can run a little add-on called FB Purity, through which I can zap almost any type of content I don't like - including the adverts!

Sorry, this is a long way from flowers, so here's a tulip (so I'm told).
