Thanks, it still was very small in the frame, Little indeed.

Most my shots when out and about are with the 2x, very little influence on the results.

Sure, small in the frame but the 2x TC didn't seem to have a negative effect. Amazing that a 2x TC can be so useful now. I don't have it (just a 1.4x TC) because I doubt it would be as good on the 100-500 as it is on your 400mm. Did you try that maybe, on the 100-500?

I did try the EF 2x on the 100-400II but to slow and to much quality loss. Only got the RF 2x after I got the 400 2.8, not yet tried on the 100-500.
