Corfe, Dorset. Much of the current village was built from Purbeck stone from the castle after its destruction by parliamentary forces in 1646. Copnsequently it is much used for filming screen adaptqations of Thomas Hardy novels, being both of the right period and the right county. Pity about the tarmac roads though!
