I have no idea where to post this, so I started a thread for Spring. Because I saw these yesterday:

EF 35-80mm with the front element removed for 1:1 macro. The middle element broke and the lens cannot zoom, I stuck some paper around the middle element to stabilize it.
So it’s stuck at 35mm? Image looks great.

With my brand new to me, used EF 28-90mm. I will try to remove the front element for extreme macro. Not bad at the Minimum Focus Distance.

This looks lovely, inphoto.

I'm curious, do you remove just the glass from the front element, or the entire element? The latter seems easy, just a few screws, but removing the glass would be quite a bit more involved I would think and not so easy.

The whole front element, 3 screws on the 35-80mm, I can put it back again with tape, so I can have both a normal and a macro lens.

The 28-90mm needs unscrewing the whole front element with scissors.

I just watched a short YouTube video on how it's done. Be careful not to cut yourself!
