Black-headed Gull, late summer and chocolate head pretty much all gone.

Great shot. They kinda look like gulls but at the same time don't.

There used to be a large breeding colony of terns in Waterland (where I shoot my birds) every year. Then they did some major construction work on the road and the bridge adjacent to the colony and they never came back. No idea where they went to. So these are oldies.

It was great just sitting at the river bank and just wait until one would come close to fish. They would hang nearly above me and not at all be intimidated by me sitting there quietly.

Different birds on different days but shot in July 2017.

Black-fronted Tern. It's a 'marsh' tern in the same family as Black Tern and Whiskered Tern.

I’ve never even heard of this gull. Like with the black-headed gull I assume the grey head only shows during breeding season?

I just discovered this thread, great pics here. This is a juvenile Pacific Gull on the shore in Tasmania, we don't see them in Queensland
