Yes, I do the same, I choose the Low Light setting most often as it seems to sharpen the least but what Low Light does is give very ugly edge artifacts, not unlike chromatic aberrations. But I clean those up later and then the end result is pretty decent.
Yes. I found your post on getting rid of sharpening halos very helpful. I used it on the shearwater above and also (with the opacity reduced to 50%) for darkening the white artefects I mentioned.

Yeah, there are more ways to deal with them but I find this is a quick and easy way to get rid of them. Good to know it was useful.

Thank you for the compliment, Terry. But it really was a big crop so even with 45mpx you lose definition in the feathers.

But then, are we ever satisfied with how our pictures turn out? I know I hardly ever am. We're too harsh on ourselves!
