This is an oldie, from early on into the hobby. More a lucky shot than a skilled one. I was on my way to a location to shoot Great crested grebes when I saw a heron fishing and catching a big fish. As he got out of the water I jumped off my bicycle, got out my gear and managed a few shots that I'm still very happy with.

How about another oldie. Taken with the Canon 5D classic in one of the last real winters we had. I can still remember the cold. But the snow was one gigantic reflector so the birds were evenly lit. Look at this heron: no shadows on him.
