It was really worth going out, judging by this result :)
Thanks, Jan! You're too kind. I think the Great tit looks nice. He was in the right spot. But the chaffinch: white sky, flat light, ugh... I just liked the feathers ruffled by the wind.

The great tit has a nice background and it is sharp and properly exposed. The chaffinch due to the lighting condition shows crisp details, like you mentioned the ruffled feathers. You can reaaly see the bird, so despite the white background it is still a nice photo in my opinion. (y)

Here is a chaffinch I encountered recently. Better light in the background than in your photo, but the bird is less clear due to shade and tree clutter ;)

Thank you so much! It's not that bad but the light was so "schraal", thin, I don't quite know how to put it in English. So colours aren't rich the way they are in nice light.

There's always something, isn't there? These are nice though. Way better light. Male chaffinches are very beautiful.

By the way, was it cold that day too?
Yes it was quite a cold day, but there was little wind, which made it acceptable. The chaffinch photos were taken when the sun broke through, earlier that morning there was clear frost on the vegetation and locally some ice on the water.
