I always thought that what we British call Yellow Wagtail (Motacilla flava flavissima) is the normal subspecies in Britain and only patchily seen in northern Europe. And so I thought that Blue-headed Wagtail is the normal subspecies (Motacilla flava flava) in the Netherlands. Am I wrong?I had to look this one up. I hadn’t even heard of a blue-headed variant. I would have assumed it was a Yellow wagtail.
