I guess we all love smooth bokeh that focuses the attention on the subject in the foreground, but one smooth bokeh can look very much like another. I loved Levina's bokeh which is super-smooth becuase of the very shallow depth of field. I was very taken with the colour in Rosalie's photo. If it wasn't for the blown-out centres of a few of the bokeh circles I would have placed it first. I agree with Levina about Martin's photo: I liked the way the bucket was in focus and everything beyond it became steadily more blurred. In Jeff's photo I wasn't sure what the subject was, but I did like the reflection of the flowers and the bokeh was nice and smooth, yet something about the photo didn't quite work for me. I can't quite find the word to explain it, but I think it's about proportions: one's attention get focused on the subject and the bokeh is very subsidiary in comparison. With Jan's photo the problem for me was one of focus: it's hard to tell exactly where the focus is, which makes the bokeh difficult to appreciate. If the focus had been more clearly on the nearest bit of the wood/ground (or whatever) I think it might have worked better. Dare I say I actually liked Rob's photo best of the lot?
