• Welcome to Focus on Photography

Hello. I created this forum so photographers would have a friendly place to share their love of photography and their images.
I set up categories and forums, started some threads and posted some images, resources and interesting articles.
You are most welcome to join me by registering but you can also post as a guest.
Either way, I hope to see you on the board!

Since we don't have a gear database on Focus on Photography and only a limited space to put gear in our profiles, I thought it a good idea to recreate a thread for it. The idea is to post your gear in it and edit your post when it needs updating after buying and/or selling gear. You can then put a link to your post in the thread in your signature or profile, or both. Photographers always want to know what somebody shoots with. Well, they can look it up here.

The easiest way to get a permalink is to hover over the little Share symbol top right of your post:
Schermafbeelding 2024-01-03 om 14.47.57.png

For those of us that use certain extensions and don't see the "sheets of paper" icon in the pop-up window when hovering over the Share symbol, another way is to click on the number in the top right corner of that post...
Schermafbeelding 2023-11-24 om 12.35.57.png

... and a new tab (or window, depending on how you have set your browser) will open with a direct link to your post in the thread. Then just copy the URL and paste it in your profile and/or signature, so people can look at what you shoot with.

Here is where you fill in the link to your gear list in your profile:

Schermafbeelding 2023-11-25 om 22.27.09.png
And in your profile under the ABOUT tab that is rendered like so:

Schermafbeelding 2023-11-25 om 22.23.05.png
Or/and you can put it in your signature, like so (with an insert link):
Schermafbeelding 2023-11-24 om 20.35.15.png

It's just an option, mind you. But if you would like to list all your gear, then this is the place to do it.

Bodies:
Canon EOS R6 Mark II

Canon 1D Mark IV
Canon 1D Mark III
Canon 5D
Canon 40D
Canon Powershot SX100IS (my first digital camera. Bought it August 2008 and it still works (and I still use it on occasion!).

Previously owned:
Canon 1D Mark II N (loved it, still my all time favourite camera)
Canon EOS R6 (brilliant camera, my first mirrorless camera)

Lenses:
Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 IS USM
Canon RF 800mm f/11 DO STM
Canon RF 50mm f/1.8
Canon RF 16mm f/2.8
Canon RF 1.4x extender

Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L (best BIF lens around with fast and accurate AF. Very sharp too.)
Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS (brilliant lens for my city birds)
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 (focus is hit or miss, you never know. A bad copy I think. POTN's Euro Nifty (from the Where's Nifty thread) was leagues better!)
Samyang 14mm f/2.8 (an absolutely amazing lens, very sharp, great colours. No idea how to shoot with it though...)
Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 non VC (ridiculously sharp)
Tamron 55-200mm f/4.0-5.6 (surprisingly good optics and it was a great starter lens. It fell to pieces a few years ago...)

Fuji EBC Fujinon-T 135mm f/3.5 MF (near mint condition, lovely lens, great colours)
Meyer Lydith 30mm f/3.5 MF (a great focal length for the street, but too much wear on the glass)
Pallas 28mm f/2.8 (like new for 22.50 euro. Not impressed by IQ though...)
Tamron Adaptall-2 75-250mm f/3.8 CF Tele Macro Zoom (model 041) (Very nice IQ and plenty sharp)

Extenders:

Kenko 1.4x MC4 DGX (best in Traumflieger test - an excellent TC)
Kenko 2x Teleplus Pro 300 DGX
Canon EF 1.4x III
Canon EF 2x II
Canon RF 1.4x

Support:

Jobu Gimbal Jr. 2 kit (love it!)
1 very heavy, very sturdy Manfrotto studio tripod,
1 less heavy and perfect field tripod, also from Manfrotto,
1 even less heavy Gitzo tripod
1 Gitzo monopod
1 iFootage monopod
(I don't remember all their names/numbers etc., and I'm too lazy to go look...)

Computer hardware:

Mac Mini M2pro 2023
NEC Multisync PA243W
Mac Pro 2 x 2.26 GHz (8-core) - early 2009
NEC Multisync PA231W (the Silver version. Obviously...) = dead.
iMac 20" 2.16 GHz - late 2006 model (the last of the white version) but still going strong!

Software:

Adobe Lightroom CC
Adobe Photoshop CC
DXO Pure Raw 4 (absolutely brilliant)
Topaz deNoise (almost always too aggressive, resulting in ugly edges)

Bags:

Canon 10EG Deluxe Gadget Bag (Love it. Used it the first year and a half. Then bought the 300mm and needed something bigger)
Lowepro TLZ AW Black (Topload Zoom). (Love it. Was a snug fit for the 40D/5D + 300mm f/4)
Lowepro Flipside 300 (Great light weight bag. Carried my 1D bodies + 400mm f/5.6 mounted and there was room for extenders, an extra lens, battery, cards. Love it.) Still works for my R6II and RF 100-500mm.

Cards:

All Kingston

And then some...
