Unfortunately I live down under, otherwise I would have loved to adopt him, and yes, I still have brushes and combs.

That would be difficult, I've had to help some emigrating people to get their pets to Australia but it's a long process with vaccinations, blood tests, anti-parasite treatments, waiting periods and even then quarantine.
