i looked in Photo Industry but didnt see anything about this but wasnt sure it would get much traffic

looks like im going to NYFW in september. i guess it's pretty important to start booking accommodations now or soon

i hear theres a lot of runway photography but im more interested in 'after hours' shooting on the streets so if anyone has gone before, id be all ears when it comes to tips and pointers and advice.

im going with a couple of guys i met at one of Peter Coulson's workshop in Chicago in '22 and then met up with at a photo convention in '23 (they didnt make the one in '24) and theyve gone before but i dont want to burden them with too many questions, if i can get multiple points of view.

pretty excited! a) NYFW! b) NYC! c) Photography of people! d) Travel e) repeat from "a)" until tired out...

Wow! That is so great! And exciting! I'm happy for you, Dave.

I don't know if we have anyone on board who can advise on the after hours shooting, as you call it. Maybe @ImageMaker knows the NYFW?

ive heard its multiple locations (depending on designers) and runway shooting almost all day.. after hours does happen but i guess it makes for a HELLISHLY long day come bed time....

LOL Yes, if you want to do after hours shooting AND do all the runways, then I don't think there's enough hours in a day!

Ive not done NYFW. Ive done FW runways but not NY. Parties and after-parties? Find out where they will be - from the organizers & ask a few models. There will be a few. Find the largest ones. Get yourself invited to shoot there too. As for street, that works anytime anywhere. Will you be alone or with a small group of photographers.

im going to be with 2 other guys ive been to different workshops and conferences with.

theyve both been to NYFW before, and im planning on hanging with them as much as i possibly can. i dont really have much of a fashion eye but im trying. i really think a couple days (not necessarily at a FW) with a fashion/beauty photographer would do me wonders. i need a mentor
