Native Wildflowers

Tiny Bluets, a sure sign Spring is not too far away. Soon my yard will be covered with these little flowers.

Yellow Crocus (Mar-Apr) is a non-native perennial plant of the UK. Been around since the 1800's and is listed in the Native Wildflowers. I see them dotted along the Canal tow paths at this time of year, again first signs of spring.

My dad's photos from 1950

Daddy took photo of the poppies because of the poem "In Flander's Fields", the first part of which goes
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
