Cloned out the birdfeeder with LR, it is a one click process and you cannot tell it was there! It is scary how easy it is and how well it does

That looks really good, Jeff. And yes to how scary good LR is in cloning out things. I use it to remove those big copyright things I used to add to my pics and replace them with something very small in the corner. It works really well.

Love the all the garden birds you posted today. They're excellent. And very clean I might add!

A fledgling house sparrow, waiting to be fed. Taken in my first year into the hobby. I shot them in the Zoo because there were so many of them. No wonder, a Zoo is a great place to find food these garden birds can eat, so yeah, tons of them about and used to people!

This was actually the first time I came home with something I liked. I think it was also the last shoot with the humble Tamron 55-200 lens. The cheapest of short telelenses out there, bought a year earlier for I think just under 100 Euro because at that time I had no idea this new hobby would stick and also I didn't know the first thing about shooting birds, so I bought the cheapest telelens I could find. Pretty decent glass but lacking in all other departments. Shortly after this shoot I got the EF 300/4L. That was instant love!

You have LOVE those cheaper lenses!
Well, when I started with this, I had no idea if this photographing birds would stick or if it was just a fad. And when you begin this journey, prices of good gear are pretty mind blowing. I mean to spend 1300 euro on a lens?! So I thought that before I start spending that kind of money, let's first buy something as cheap as possible, learn how to do this, shooting birds, and just learning photography in general. And then in a year, or two, if I'm still as excited about it, I will get the good stuff. And that's exactly what I did.

Actually I first bought the Sigma 70-300mm. It was recommended everywhere. And I HATED it. It was sooo bad. I returned it, got the Tamron and loved it. With the 40D it was a pretty good combination. And I learned the basics with it so it served me really well. A pity that a few years later, the lens got dropped on a hard floor and literally fell apart. I tried to fix it but things were broken inside so I never got it to work again.
