Is buzzard a general term for raptors in Europe?

No(or shouldn't be), it's the Common buzzard, Buteo buteo

Not nearly sharpo enough, unfortunately. This was one of a regular pair that have frequented the woods above our house for years. We often see them overhead, but they are never low enough for good shots.

Yeah? The bird doesn’t look particularly unsharp to me.

Interesting that it happens when the bird is flying towards you. In the other thread you mentioned how the AF in PC mode would sometimes follow a bird, especially if it comes towards you. It did so with my Great tit and here too. Strange though as a bird coming towards us was always the hardest scenario for a camera's AF.
