Wow. That's a beautiful photo, Sid. Not an easy bird to photograph as they are so very skittish.

Thanks Levina, this was taken from a public hide on our local wetland reserve and to be honest it's easier to get decent shots of these kingfishers in that location than it is to get decent shots of the truly wild mallards that are on our pond at home from time to time. We had three broods of mallards this year and none of them lasted a week...........:yikes:

It's a miracle some make it to adulthood. They get picked off one by one. Herons look for them. Little coots and moorhens too. Easy snacks.

Nice, Lesley. He seems to be close but not at all intimidated by you.

I envy you all, shooting owls. It is one bird that is missing from my photo library. I've only seen one and it was a captive bird, sitting on the hand of someone.

Yes, I was impressed that it stayed put while I crept closer and closer. But then busloads of children started arriving and it flew to the treetops. Darn kids! :D Thank you! : )
