Just in case somebody would like to post a short animated clip...
(Longer animations can be embedded of course with a link from sites like YouTube, Vimeo etc.)

Well, that is handy as I was just looking for a place to post a little animation exercise: a walking cycle.
Drew it on my iPad in Rough Animator, a very simple but effective little app.

If this is a doodle, as you call it, I would like to see a real animation from you! How do you do something like this? Yes I know it's made up of drawings, one after another. But this figure actually walks in that he not only swings his arms but goes up and down even. How do you do this? And how many drawings (pics) went into it?

Classic animation is done at 24 frames per second. But most animation is done at 12 frames per second. It's a bit easier and less time consuming and the missing frames aren't missed. So I too did this in 12fps (it's called animating on twos). My little walking cycle is a very short sequence that simply repeats. Only 32 frames went into it, so 32 drawings.

As to the movement, that's a matter of looking at how people walk. And there are also tutorials for that. It's not that hard.

Here is a screenshot of the "project" in Rough Animator on my iPad:

Thanks for the info.

In the short .mov clip I moved the slider shot by shot to see how you drew it. I can see the drawings are rough sketches but still well done. Did you do more?

Did you do more?
No not drawn. I'm pretty good at drawing but I'm not very good with illustrations, where everything is exaggerated, proportions are wrong etc. I did do some stop-motion things, but also just short doodles basically, quick stuff for some POTN challenges and so on. Nothing serious. Nothing good. Not worth to be seen really.
