Interesting experiment, Jan. Pretty decent results though. Focus seems fine. I wonder what it would look like in really nice light and in an attractive setting. 1600mm must be hard to keep steady though or were you using a tripod? I took some shots with the 800/11 and the 1.4x extender, so "just" 1120mm and that was already hard to keep steady.
It was just walking around with the camera and shot hand holding it. I have more shots, but still have to sort them out and work on them. More or less static subjects were quite doable, but the more it moves, the harder it gets. Also with the 2x on that lens, it seemed like the available focus area was limited to a center box (like it was for example with 800 f11 on some cameras). I did not have that limitation with the 1.4x on the 200-800.

Interesting about the limited focus area with the 2x extender. I had that indeed with the 800/11 on the R6, but not on the R6m2 and not on the R5m2. That must make those 1600mm even more difficult to handle as every little bit of motion will drift a subject out of that box all too easily.
