Wild Birds of Europe

The wood pigeon fight. Almost 300 stills went into this. It's a bad clip and some frames are out of focus. I was shooting in Pre-capture mode as I was waiting for another bird to take off when the fight started. So yeah, it's bad, but you can see how they fight by jumping on one another. The spectator magpie is also visible in a few frames. Right. I'm off to bed!

This jumping doesn't seem to be very effective. Not something that could hurt an opponent, I think.

Interesting. We get up to six Woodpigeons in our garden and I regularly see aggression, but I've never witnessed a prolongued 'fight' like this.

I saw one last year as well, right in front of me. It too went on for quite some time.

A crow on a tree trunk in the reeds in harsh light from yesterday. As there was quite some sun, I decided to see what a 2x could do on the RF200-800.

Interesting experiment, Jan. Pretty decent results though. Focus seems fine. I wonder what it would look like in really nice light and in an attractive setting. 1600mm must be hard to keep steady though or were you using a tripod? I took some shots with the 800/11 and the 1.4x extender, so "just" 1120mm and that was already hard to keep steady.
