These are great, Jan. I'm really surprised by the green on the side of his head. I can't recall ever having seen that. I usually see dark blue and/or a dark purple hues on these birds, but not green.
I was a bit surprised by it as well, double checked my color balance, but it seemed ok and also show a bit of purple what I expected.

It absolutely looks genuinely green. Pretty cool. I know I'll be looking out for that green next time I see these birds, that's for sure.

Hi Jan and Levina, the colours do change later in the year they seem dark grey on their cheeks, you can see the green in this one as it turns to the sun, early spring last year.

There is the green again, yes. Thanks for posting this. Maybe it's the time of year then. I shoot them mostly during the winter on a lake nearby (although we also have resident birds). Maybe it's a time of year when the green doesn't show? Just guessing.

:LOL::love:

I was thinking that Patrick won't type on his phone but hopefully he knows how to find the Like button. Although picking the right one from the row on a phone is wickedly difficult. On the iPad too. Grrr...
I've set up an old laptop with internet and e-mail accounts so I can at least watch and type normally but it's so slow(zo traag als dikke stront, for the Dutch viewers:poop:) I'm not even going to try my photos(and not shooting new ones until I know when I get it back).
