Weekend Task #4 - Panning > VOTING WEEK

Thanks for the votes, I started the WET #5 thread.

With respect to the photos:
1 Levina : very nice photo of a gull in flight, the panning is visible in the background and the overall atmosphere of the photo is nice. And off course the subject is crisp and clear which is challenging with panning shots sometimes.
2: Rosalie: nice photo, especially given the equipment and circumstances to get such a photo. I gave it second place, as the background is a bit distracting due to the bright colors and zig-zag therein. My number 1 vote was just more relaxing to the eye.
3. Rob: a nice own interpretation of the theme ;)
4. Stiga: nice try, you almost convinced/ fooled me but I was missing the driver;haha;

My votes:
#1 Jan
#2 Rosalie
#3 Rob
I thought Jan's panning shot was perfect in every way. I couldn't find a way to not give him the first spot.
However, I loved Rosalie's entry too. There's so much movement in the photo and to have done this with the equipment she had at the time, my hat is off to her.
Rob's interpretation made me laugh. It didn't conform with the description of the theme but it's a cool interpretation of it.

Martin's shot also made me laugh. The car isn't so much driving on solid ground as it is floating! And yes, the driver is missing too! But what a fun image. And I love that you played, Martin!

Exactly my thinking.

I did admire the execution in Rob's photo, even though I'm sure it wasn't what tacphotog had in mind. I would probably have voted for Martin's shot had there been a driver in the car.

I don't think I got to vote, but I would have voted for
1- Levina
2- Stiga - the car seems to be floating - I totally missed that the car was driverless
3 - Jan

As for my photo - it was totally accidental. I didn't intend to pan with the action but she was going by me too fast for me to do anything else. At the time I was concentrating on pictures of horses jumping cross country jumps, and someone said to me that they didn't appreciate photos where she just saw the horse's butt going over the fence. In order to have the horse's face, I started walking the cross country backward - starting at the finish and walking through fields and woods (and sometimes falling into streams) while staying out of the way of the horses. At each jump I would wait for someone to come along. And sometimes horses would appear when I was between jumps.

Almost all of these were print pictures and most of them have not been digitized. Two or three years ago, I found the contact prints I made of those black and white pictures but the quality isn't great.
