Weekend Task #12 - Kids will be Kids

I went with Jason's photo as it shows a typical thing that kids do when you are not around, same as drawing on the wall or the TV.

Picked Rosalie's photo as second. To me the girl should just enjoy the riding, but her expression to me shows she wants to be in front, like kids often wanna be. The older person or the one simply better has to hold back, so the kid can be in front/ first. Like with a nephew on a mountain walk no longer wanting to walk and get grumpy, untill you make it a run towards a certain point and give him the edge so he feels like he is winning.

Third for me was Terry's photo. Kids running with dogs... Adults just run less with dogs in a playful manner in my memory (if they run it is for their own daily run)

But lots of nice photo's and difficult to rank, just so subjective...

I was surprised to see this picture - I had forgotten about it. What surprised me is that my child (the one without the helmet) quit riding three times because she was afraid. She quit when she was asked to trot instead of walk, when she was asked to canter, and when she was asked to jump. Unlike her two sisters. So I was thrilled to see her comfortable enough with her cousin to actually go fast on the pony. Her cousin is only one month older, but of course her parents owned a riding stable and her mother trained horses for the track. My sister-in-law actually took a horse to the track to race when she was in labor.

Anyway I don't agree that kids need to be allowed to win. If everyone gets a trophy, the trophy is no longer special. Kids will know if you let them win. It's OK to give them help, but not to just throw the game. (IMHO)
