When I saw it I thought I was looking at vast wastelands with snow and ice, like you were flying above Antarctica or some such place. Then I read it's taken above the English channel. What a wonderful image.

Yeah, the clouds do it, make it look more rugged that it really is.

Looks like the plane was at an angle in the first shot, taking a bit of a turn? That's a cool shot.
That's a great pic! Someone must have cleaned the window before takeoff.
