giant stone, placed in Pine Grove Park (on the rise above where the Huron lightship is 'set') indicating that X number of feet north of that spot is the location that Thomas A. Edison's boyhood home once stood. it has been excavated a couple of times by the universities of Michigan and most of the artifacts are on display in the Thomas A. Edison museum (part of the local museum) located in a former railroad depot, where young Tom learn telegraphy and saved the station manager's little boy who had crawled out onto the tracks in the way of an oncoming train. the bridge in the background is the Blue Water Bridges (two) connecting Port Huron Michigan with Sarnia Ontario. during its heyday, Port Huron had the 2nd highest number of immigrants processed into the US. Ellis Island was the first. Port Huron was also a stop on the Underground Railroad where escaped slaves were able to avail themselves of aid and where they crossed into Canada.
