I’ve flown in these many times…. Honest. The last time was out of Walla Walla, Washington. Engine blew as we approached mountain foothills. We barley made it back to the runway. Next day, the Navy came to get us and we flew out in a P-3 Orion. Instructions from the crew…. Don’t touch anything. LOL. I wanted to launch Sonobuoys all the way back to San Diego.
I too flew in these many times, no door, only an opening with a belt, a lot of holes and the air came in, babies crying when the altitude was a bit high, forcing the pilot to fly 100 ft over the sea. The DC3s served as passenger transport planes by the end of their life about 40 years ago...
