I wondered if that was a beaver dam, but I think beavers use sticks mostly I think. So, made by humans to cross the stream without getting their feet wet?
Yeah, beavers need trees, so not them. It's not well-enough constructed to walk across easily without falling off and, while a little bit downstream there's a lot of recreation, just here there isn't much. It might still be man-made, but my guess is that it's probably a natural dam, formed after rains when the river was flowing faster and higher.

If beavers are out and it's not really fit to walk on then, yeah, you are no doubt right and it must have formed naturally. It just seemed so tidy. Thanks.
