I am fairly sure they are long-abandoned crofts. The place is now a grouse moor, so there will be lots of lead flying around, especially during the shooting season.

That's a really lovely image, Jason. I love the soft tones. The tall tree in the middle is a bit of a pity but that's not your doing! It's still a wonderful shot.
