Bird Portraits - Post Yours!

Yeah, it's as mean as hell. :) Food is primarily corpses of seabirds, whales, dolphins, and chicks of albatrosses and penguins, also adult birds up to the size of albatrosses.
Wow.

You know, I was going to joke, ask if they eat whales. I thought "nah... silly joke" ...

A dabchick! Never even heard of this one. But clearly a grebe. Nice catch, Jason.
In the UK, the little grebe (Tachybaptus ruficollis) used to be known as the dabchick. The NZ bird is a different species and seems endangered. Jack can say more. Lovely shot, though. North Island, l guess?

I had to zoom in to see where the rest of his toes are! :D Lovely light in this one, Kirk. Looks like you were out very early this time!
Thanks, Levina. I thought the toe thing might garner a little attention, ha! I wish I could get out early, that was taken at 5:34 pm, about an hour before sunset and it's just my editing that makes it appear like morning.

Thanks, Ed. Yes, this was on Lake Taupo at Motuoapa.
