Bird Portraits - Post Yours!

Nice shot, Jack. I must say, Reina is right, they're a little prettier than an almost all black, double-crested cormorant, with their all-white breasts, necks and faces. Can't tell here, but are the eyes the same, with that brilliant turquoise??? Got any shots of one showcasing the eye?
So far as I know the iris is always dark, though the eye ring is normally blue (the bird in the pic above may be not quite adult). What they do sometimes have is an area of bright blue skin around the eye (before the yellow) - I suspect this is probably a breeding condition thing. The pic below was taken in Picton in early March, which is a peak breeding time (although they breed all year round).

I just looked at some pics of them on the web and I could be wrong, but it appears that the adults' eyes are a dark blue, which is very cool, but not the turquoise eyes of the double-crested corm's here. I saw some pics of what appeared to be juveniles, and their eyes were yellowish. Love that blue and yellow around the eye.
