Sharpness? Looks fine to me, Kirk. And I love the soft tones in this image. An early morning shot of a snowy egret at the tidal pool on North Beach, Ft De Soto a few years back. Tough shot with low light, 158 mm, 1/60th and handheld. I know it's not the sharpest, but I was just pleased to capture the beautiful, morning light on the water.

Thx, Levina. I used the wrong word. I said sharpness in place of detail. It just seems to be lacking detail from the lack of light, it explains the softness. What detail there is, is in focus and sharp.Sharpness? Looks fine to me, Kirk. And I love the soft tones in this image.
It's the light that gives that softness. But I think it fits the overall soft-toned quality of the image. It's nice.Thx, Levina. I used the wrong word. I said sharpness in place of detail. It looks very dark to me. Given the condition I think you did really well. I like the image too.the lack of light,
Thx! I don't recall, it's been so long ago, but knowing myself, I probably used the lens VR to help steady it and I did take a few dozen shots to get one decent one. The rest are trash.I'd say that's pretty good for 1/60th handheld. Nice, smooth water too.
Thank you! Yes, the condition was a dark morning, so I think I captured it accurately. At least my histogram says so. I did experiment and expose it more, but all that did was make it brighter and noisier, as expected, so I just left it looking natural. Thx for commenting. It looks very dark to me. Beautiful birds, wish we had them.Baltimore Oriole
