I just looked that up. I read that they can lay as many as 18 eggs, but females can also dump their eggs in other birds' nests.

18 eggs! Yes, no wonder they would donate a few!

Thanks. Yes, same bird, different names. Officially (i.e. according to the International Orithological Committee) it's Rose-ringed Parakeet, but pretty much all British birders use it's old name.
