Pretty little birds. I only saw one once and it was I think the very last shot I took with the R6. I'll look for it. It's not the best shot, but I'm happy with it just the same.

Hi Levina,

I used to see them frequently around where I lived. Then around 2014 they were hit with a disease, Trichomonosis. It's a parasitic disease caused by the parasite Trichomonas gallinae. I never saw another one for years. Then on my travels I came across a thriving community along the Wirral way. It felt so good seeing them again.

That is sad. But I can imagine it must have felt good to see them again.

Here's the one I took as one of the last shots with the R6. It was very early in the morning and he was deep in the tree, so everything was very dark. But he was sitting in a fairly good spot.
Fairly high ISO and still a bit underexposed so I had to add a bit of light in post. So there isn't a whole lot of detail there but still happy I got the shot. Never saw one before even, so it was a lifer.

Looks fine to me. He's offset nicely against the dark background.

Thanks, Jack.
He really was in the right spot. But he was deep in the thick of a tree and the sun was just up and hadn't reached that spot yet. So it was pretty dark.
