Large summer resort hotel taken over by the French - along the Rhine
Petersberg - later the building became the guesthouse of the Federal Government where they accommodated foreign guests of state, while Bonn was Federal Capital. Nowadays it is an upscale hotel. The village on the river bank is probably Königswinter.

After we visited Cologne, we went to stay with my mother's friend Peg Ware (Auntie Peg) in Mannheim. Her husband Bob was a Colonel in the US Army, and he had a car. He drove us around to places in Germany and Austria.

We got our film developed by the Post Exchange (and we got back a photo taken in Rome where we had not been and none of us visited there until 35 years later).
