Testing

First blog on the forum. Testing it. Figuring out how it works. There are a tons of settings, customisations, permissions I can set and I will need to learn how to set them properly. But the add-on works straight out of the box. However, things are not as straightforward as I thought it would be.

I am very confused by how the order is determined. On top is the category (which only an administrator can create), then you get the blog, which is your main Blog within a category. And then you can add an entry to that Blog and that is your actual blog.

I need some coffee.

So I can think straight...

Yes, we have categories. Within that you create a blog but that's just what the blog is going to be about. So when you click the "Create blog" button, you get like a cover page where you say something about what your blog is going to be about (and you need to upload at least one image that will be used in blog entries that have only text). After that is saved you click the "Post entry" button and then you can start blogging. You give your blog entry a title, can add images etc.

If you want to blog about your travels, you need to only create the Blog detail page for it once. After that you just add new travel blog entries to it.

Are any subjects taboo? My first response is no. But I have no experience with a blog on a forum and frankly I have no idea where it will take us; we are going to have to figure out together what works and what not.

I do think that as we are a photography forum the blogs should be photography blogs. Travel blogs are a good example of that. But I can also see people blogging about their recipes, or about their car, or a bird or wildlife photographer about how they got the shot. I also think it would be a good idea to stay away from politics and religion but other than that I suggest we just go with the flow, see where it takes us.
