There are many days that I don't get out taking pictures. For example the last two days it was over 100 DEGREES F! and today while it is much cooler, 70F, it is very dark going to rain.

So today I am culling images from the last 6 months that I saved but didn't process by camera figuring to cull and edit them later. To be totally correct I do go through and cull over 95% of images and then have the remaining 1-5% sorted on the pc in a master folder "Pictures to be culled" and then by camera i.e. R7 R6ii R5ii and then by date. Most of these have not be processed or posted anywhere but some have so it is possible that I will end up posting dups in the forum. I try to keep a folder of everything I post but don't always follow through with that.

So today and on rainy days it is a sorting/culling and some editing day.

I have been to Waterland a few times in the last couple of weeks but I haven't processed the files yet. Too busy and of course I really REALLY hate processing my images so I'm procrastinating.

But today and the last couple of days I have been working on the files from my R6m2. I have about a year worth of images from the R6m2 where I couldn't process the RAW files (old Mac at the time), so I had everything converted to DNG at the time, but I saved the RAW files and I am now replacing all those DNG files with the RAW files in my LR catalogue. It's a hell of a job and I am cursing myself for doing so. I'm more than halfway through now.

It's raining here too. I did shoot some gulls a bit earlier today and yesterday too. Shooting practice from home!

Went to a hospital for a check,

mounted a new flashpoint xplor 100 pro to a light stand, stuck a 43" socked umbrella in the mount, and fired off a couple of images to test it.

only being 100ws, it takes considerably more power to get images at f8 than the xplor 400 does. going to Fashion Week New York in september and ive had some sketchy canon 600ex-rt speedlites so i thought i go with something maybe a bit more powerful and maybe reliable... i bought a $6 silicone sleeve for it to 'protect it from falls' which it MIGHT protect edges but probably NOT the rest of the flash if it were to fall

and of COURSE i need a shave...

Looks good.

so the 'shooting' i did today was with my phone.

my daughter and son in law flew in from Fairbanks Alaska (to Detroit where I picked them up) for my wife's (her mom's) funeral on monday. we stopped in Greektown (neighborhood of Detroit) for late lunch...

I'm late to this topic. On Thursday the pool was closed due to chemical imbalance, and I had physical therapy. I took a photo Wednesday of my feet in the AFOs (Ankle Foot Orthotics)

And then on Sunday I took a photo of the orthotic to show how it keeps my feet flexed.

But mostly recently I have been working on my parent's photos and mine that were taken in 1959-1961. Trying to figure out when and where they were taken and tracking down ones I remember but can't find.

Thursday I was working on my parent's trip to NYC which they had over 40 photos, but I wasn't thrilled with the narrative which didn't have any real stories to go with the photos except noting where they were taken. And my mother had mentioned that her dear friends would go to NYC in Feb but that she only went with them once and she bought a grey coat. I saw that one of the photos I had of that NYC trip, she was wearing a grey coat.

So I took some time to track down photos etc. of her friends and tell that story in the blog with my dad's pictures of NY

I was on Instagram but instead of doing something useful I watched reels of crazy parrots and cats. And just now watched a reel called: "Men and ladders just don't mix". I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard.

Those reels are really addictive and meant to keep you from leaving.

I know! And now the algorithm thinks I love people falling over and such, as today I got people suddenly being jerked and dragged around by their dog on a leash. I’m sorry to say I cried with laughter.

Another day of reorganising my Lightroom catalogue. Replacing all the dng files of the R6m2 with the raw files. At the time my old Mac Pro 2009 couldn’t read the files so I had to convert them all. But I kept the raw files and am now putting those in place, deleting all the dng files. It’s a lot of work. Hopefully I can finish it today.

The good thing is that deleting the dng files and culling the raw files frees up space on the external drive(s) where I keep my files.
