Weekend Task #34 - The Blues

This week and next are crazy ones for me. So I may not get a chance to provide any photo critiques this time. Let me just say one general, over-arching comment about all of the submissions: I was impressed at how almost every photo had some application to "blue" other than just the color (temperature, bird name, music, mood).

#1 Jan
#2 Rosalie
#3 Terry
I voted like this.

I LOVED Jan's picture. Just loved it. Fun and different and cute.
I also really liked Rosalie's Blue egg because it had different meanings of blue in it.
And I liked Terry's pic too. I thought it fit the theme well, but because the image doesn't tell us if the guitarist's songs are happy or melancholic I gave the #2 spot to Rosalie. But still an excellent image.

I also liked the other images, like Rob's snow and inphoto's beach scene. But we have to choose 3, so you choose.

I had thought of taking a selfie with me in a depressed pose in low light. You know, a dramatic low key image (well attempt to), but there wasn't time. So then I though of blue hour and went looking at my bird photos. I love to shoot in blue hour and this particular one is still a favourite of mine. I didn't expect it to win though. But I'm always wrong with that. When I think I am submitting a GREAT pic, nobody likes it. When I think oh well, I got nothing better... it wins. Go figure.

Thanks everybody for the votes. And for playing.

"So since I wanted to do music in my entry, I was prejudiced in favor of a real musical entry. I thought Jan's entry was really cute, but Terry had a real person (and I probably should recognize the person, but I don't)."

Arlo Guthrie, here's the whole song. I filmed it while he was at Okemah, OK, the birthplace of his father Woody Guthrie.

I didn't get to vote, was busy with life and other stuff. Some great entries. When I can feel the story that a picture is telling, then RDWP's really does it. Gives me cold chills just looking at it. Likewise with pcs and IP's photos. I can feel the rain, or the warmth of the beach. Jan's made me laugh, so that's a winner too. The best part of my Alaska cruise was icebergs in Tracy Arm Fiord, so Ed really brought back memories. Levina's Heron really captures a cool foggy morning. So I'm not sure how I would have voted! :)

I knew the song - the first verse is

I went down to the St. James Infirmary
Saw my baby there
Stretched out on a long white table
So sweet, so cold, so fait

But Arlo is after my time. (although not sure I would recognize Woody either)
