Looks great. It's very hard not to blow out the sun in a shot like this. And you prevented that, so well done!

No, I mean that the area with the sun in it becomes one big white blob without anything in it. Just totally blown out white area. Like this pic. See how blown out the sky is? All that white? Your pic doesn't have that. So that's what I would call a good control of the whites (in this case the sun).

Yes. Supposedly the Italians finished the water retention device called "Moses." This is supposed to prevent flooding. I'm not sure what the maximum flood state is though before it becomes ineffective.

I remember that morning well. It was cold! And foggy. Shortly after taking this shot I managed a shot of a Reed Warbler. He was 2 meter away from me but I could barely see him!
