The 1913 Scripps-Booth Rocket Cyclecar had a motor cycle engine that was belt driven to the rear wheels.
  • Purpose: To fill a market gap between motorcycles and cars.
  • Characteristics: Small, lightweight, inexpensive, often with motorcycle engines, typically two-passenger (often in tandem).

Wow, look at that chain! The principle seems pretty much the same as on a bicycle. Just a bit bigger. I love the name “motorette”. Somehow seems fitting. :D
