Studio Lighting

She was getting up off that chair to roll it out of the way. I surprised her by walking up and grabbed this shot. With a fixed 85mm lens, I zoom with my feet in studio.

That is a great shot, Don. I love the pose and the spontaneous expression on her face and the open look in her eyes, if you know what I mean. It's lovely.

Thank you. You know... After this session, others saw the effort and are now talking about sessions for themselves. I dont mind. Afterall, that's what we're here for.

It's also a compliment to you, I think, no? For how you make the model look?

Thanks, it is for sure. Yeah, it is a motivator to do even better the next time. Been wanting to do rooftop and outdoor cityscape type sessions, but it’s so rainy this time of the year here in Taipei. Have to wait patiently another week or two.

This series, I got my fav shot of the session. I walked up to her during the series and got this closeup. I do zoom in and out with my feet with the fixed lenses I use in studio. Reposted for reference. Hand dropped a bit to better reveal her face.

Thanks!! She was fun to shoot. Stunning in front of camera. I did rush to shoot without the usual informal banter. I won’t do that again. I gather valuable insights into the person that helps a lot during the shoot. Spending time up front also helps to earn a models trust and gives her some time to settle into the studio. It was her first time in studio. My fault…. I was too rushed these days. Gotta do this right. I did stay in touch the month before the shoot. Almost daily. I was out of country. Juggling a few more plates than Im used to this time around.

Here’s a few more from the session. She was quite fun to shoot and had a lot of positive energy. Broncolor Para 222 camera left. Maybe 10 feet from the model. Gridded striplights in back Left & Right just barely highlighting her as rim lights.
