crime (a little) economy during the plandemic (a little) gentrification (a little) a casino (a little)....A pity. What happened?
hard to point to just one thing but i think the casino probably was the impetus for the decline. there used to be an alleyway between some rather expansive buildings, known as Trapper's Alley. going back to the 1800s (or earlier) early trappers and indigenous people brought pelts there to sell and trade. it eventually was transformed to a closed 'mall' type area with lots of little shops with souvenirs and local ephemera for sale. when the casino came to town (THIS casino) they bought up all those buildings, closed the shops, and now its just an enclosed walkway past a couple of restaurants. one a Greek restaurant, another a chain burger joint.
