Loch Garten, Scotland. It is noted for being the first place that Ospreys returned to breed in 1954 after having been exterminated in Britain earlier in the century by persecution and egg collectors. Ospreys still nest here (although not this year), but the loch itself is never used by the birds since the water is too peaty for the birds to see any fish.

Isn’t that kinda odd, to breed near water you can’t fish in? Seems inefficient.

I think it has probably got more to do with having a suitable dead tree to nest on. For a bird that migrates annually from Scotland to Africa and back, flying around doesn't tax them and there are plenty of other lochs in the area.
