when we visited NoLA, we ended up at a different cemetery than the usual and found it a lot less crowded (people and tomb wise)

and obviously a LOT LESS maintained

i didnt get these up during Memorial Day. i was preoccupied. Fujifilm Instax Wide instant images of my uncles (in birth order. James is an internet capture), my dad and my best friend growing up. none of them passed during wartime. the bronze plaques are provided by the Veterans' Administration. my dad's headstone is a flat stone like my friend Ron's so they just place it on the ground at the foot of the site. Ron doesnt have a bronze plaque but I don't know why.

I really the forgotten - abandoned feel, Levina.

It's an old Jewish cemetery. It's adjacent to the Flevopark in Amsterdam and closed for the public. The city of Amsterdam owns it and leaves it alone. In recent years attempts have been made to restore some of the headstones, clean up the place some. I believe it's done by high school kids from schools in the vicinity.
