We've all been there: a great photo opportunity, we are waiting, camera at the ready, concentrated to the max, knowing that this is going to be great. And then we fail! The shot is rubbish because the camera failed us, the wind failed us, we failed us.

So dust off those shots that would have been MAGNIFICENT and UNIQUE had they not failed and post them here.

Let's see them: our epic failures.

Here's one of mine. The Grey heron was very close and the camera decided to focus on its feet! I took this in 2012 and have never had another opportunity for a shot like this, despite the fact that I have been very close to herons in all the years since. If I had succeeded, it would have been a really unique shot. Alas. I kept it for the record and whenever I stumble upon it I still feel the pain.

I didn't bother to process it. Just resized it. And yes, it is full frame.

Nobody?

Then I will follow up with another of mine. Taken in 2013. It was my first real close encounter with Barn swallows. I caught them on a fence post. It would have been so great if I got it right. And of course I didn't. I managed three shots and all failed. And the barn swallows went somewhere else so I didn't get a second chance. I kept this shot for the record. Heavily cropped but otherwise unprocessed.

I do, not an expert but I like a bit of space around the bird.
But it's fixable. In Photoshop you could just duplicate the layer and move the top layer to the centre. Then fix the seam.

Possible but I don't 'do' photoshop, I only own PSElements and only use that (very) occasionally to remove something or make a collage. Just not my thing.

But you have C1 I think it was. Isn’t that a pixel pusher too, like PS?
