this past summer i flew from michigan up to anchorage alaska to see the Arctic Thunder air show....

oh, and to visit my daughter who lives in Fairbanks lol. she came down to Anchorage to see me. she was the one who asked me to come go to the air show with her...

These are great.

The bent blades in the first shot, is that normal or is it some kind of anomaly?

Yes, those are "scimitar blades" named after the sword.

Some old WWI planes had them too, but I don't know that they knew enough about aerodynamics to know if they were useful.

Thanks for the link. Interesting read. I had never heard of them. When I saw the shot I assumed it was rolling shutter until I saw it was shot with a 5dIII.
