i use a speedlite on my camera a LOT for fill flash. indoors outdoors doesnt matter. ive learned that any speed over 1/200, with the flash on and ready to go, it will default to 1/200.

the R6m2 will NOT shoot flash with electronic shutter (at least it wont use the trigger) so when i put my trigger on to shoot the headshots/roster shots for the local hockey team, i didnt pay attention to the shutter speed being 1/250. no worries right? the trigger for the Godox off camera unit, will just knock it down to sync speed....

NOPE! you DOPE! i was chimping the images on the back and saw a black streak/smear down the one side of the image. i didnt pay any attention to it for the first 2/3 of the shoot and then it dawned on my that ill bet the shutter isnt sync'd properly and sure enough. it was staying at 1/250 even with the trigger and flash ready to go. i switched it back down to 1/200, opened the aperture 1/3 of a stop where i wanted it to begin with, and all we fine in the world. crisis averted.

moral is know that your camera is not going to fix your goofs when you dont pay attention to what it is and isnt supposed to do

That's good advice!

I had a similar experience with my R6 (although with little consequence, I mean I was just doing some silly tabletop stuff). But I couldn't get the Godox flashlights to work so I was sure they were incompatible and oh no, now I have to buy new ones. I had to go online to learn it didn't work in electronic shutter mode. Switched to Mechanical mode and bingo. Phew...
