my wife before getting sick, last september had told me she thought she needed a different camera than she was using. Canon T2i with the EF17-55 f2.8 because with her wrist troubles, it was just a bit heavy and caused her pain by the end of the day due to it torquing her wrist.

thats when i went on the search for the Powershot G7X III to no avail (at least not retail nor at MSRP pricing). we found nothing so we went to the local-ist (closest at 55 miles away) brick and mortar free-standing camera store. coincidentally i got my very first semi-pro 35mm camera there in summer of 1982. the Canon AE-1 with 50mm f1.8 kit but i digress.

after she was in remission in March, we looked at several different camera brands but none really had the point and shoot set up with the zoom range that the G7X had. 8.8-36.8mm which relates to 15-59mm (unless this is NOT a 1.6x crop factor). i liked the offerings from Fujifilm but to get that kind of range, it would need to be an interchangeable lens body, the same with the Sony. BOTH were considerably more money and i wasnt thrilled with changing brands which would have precluded ME having to learn a new system if my wife had any questions. we opted for the EOS R50 with the RF 18-45 f4.5-6.3 and the 55-210 f5-7.1 kit, and an extra battery. all told about $1200.

my wife, in playing with the camera shot 5 photos of a mourning dove in our eave trough (roof gutter) one morning while sitting on the deck enjoying being out of doors with a cup of tea that SHE brewed, before she relapsed in April.

I asked my daughter if she thought she might be interested in it but she doesnt use the T1i with the fabulous 17-55 f2.8 that was my wife's initially, nor did she want the T2i body. she said she didnt think she would have any use for it.

question: what do i do with it? i doubt id use it as is since i have a 5D3, 5D4, R6M2 (plus the t2i). it has the boxes, the papers, the wrapping, (but i dont think the receipt is in there) and i wouldnt be able to get much for it, if i were to take it back as used. i could maybe use it in trade for something else but there really isnt anything they have, im interested in.

i could put it up for sale on ebay but i dont like them anymore. they charge the sellers (never used to) and i dont have an amazon account to sell and both of those are loaded down with gear anyway. maybe FB marketplace but that seems like a pain anymore and i dont know if i want to mail it to anyone here because i dont want to take the chance something happened to it and me feel like crap

so yeah, ive kind of answered my own question and im sort of just rambling on

The R50 is a nice little camera. And still in the shops so I would think it would sell easily for a reasonable amount. Unlike my old 1DIII and 1DIV that nobody wants and that I couldn't trade in back in 2020 when I purchased a R6.

But yeah, selling privately is a pain.

Maybe you could donate it to someone or maybe there's a community centre where youngsters go to learn things where they would welcome a R50.

LOL, but that's all I have for my main camera is a 1dmkiii. Not familiar with the newest Canon camera's but would think the R50 is worth selling. Canon's refurb site shows it at $704 currently with the RF-S18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens Kit.
